Mr Fleming in 8 Mile Road

8 Mile road has long served as a de facto cultural dividing line between the predominantly poor black city and its wealthier, predominantly white northern suburbs. The perception of 8 Mile as the chief dividing line between racial groups and classes persists, in part because the suburban counties of Oakland and Macomb remain, on the whole, significantly whiter and more prosperous than the city of Detroit. However, in recent years increasing numbers of whites have moved into Detroit, especially around the downtown area, and other neighborhoods in the region have become more ethnically diverse as well.

With Barbara and Anne-Marie, we had the chance to meet Mr "Fleming",
an autentic character of this road.

Guyaquil, Ecuador, 2017

Twelve years ago, the first Buddhist masters to visit the Catholic nation of Ecuador planned a short one-week stay.
Fast forward to the present, and not only are they still living there, but moved into one of the largest Buddhist temples in South America.

Ecuador, 20 February 2017, the day after

Ecuador, 20 February 2017
The morning after the 1st round of Presidential elections
Ecuador will hold a runoff election to choose a successor for President Rafael Correa,
the country’s electoral commission ruled, in a vote being closely watched around Latin America.
The results on this Monday morning confirmed earlier indications that
the governing party candidate, Lenín Moreno,
and a conservative former banker, Guillermo Lasso,
would face off in a second round on April 2.
The photos were taken in the streets of Cuenca.
